Ales & Single Malt Whiskies
We are proud to say that The Woolpack is in the Good Beer Guide for 2015 and we have been for several years. We hold the quality Cask Marque for all our ales. We have St Austell Tribute and Sharps Doom Bar on permanently and we also have 2 Guest Ales on at all times.
TRIBUTE:~ 4.2% ABV
“Tribute is a magnificent example of a bronze coloured English bitter, with a rich aroma of biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit from the Willamette hops. Juicy malt, hop resins and tangy fruit coat the tongue, while the finish is long and lingering, with a fine balance between malt, hops and fruit, finally becoming dry and bitter.” – Roger Protz, Editor Good Beer Guide.
The South West’s favourite beer. Tribute is a huge supporter of sport in the region. It is the official beer of South West Rugby Union, sponsor of both Somerset & Gloucestershire County Cricket Clubs, the Cornish Pilot Gig Association as well as a keen supporter of Plymouth Argyle & Exeter City football clubs. Customers and publicans love Tribute as it’s light, hoppy, zesty, easy to drink and consistently delicious.
DOOM BAR:~ 4.0% ABV
Doom Bar has achieved international cult status and is now the No.1 selling cask beer in the UK!
Where the river Camel meets the Atlantic Ocean on Cornwall’s rugged north coast, a sand bank, centuries old, known as the Doom Bar protects and calms this beautiful estuary. Sailors respect the Doom Bar knowing it to be unforgiving if met with haste or arrogance.
Doom Bar the beer embodies many characteristics which make it worthy to carry the name of this natural wonder. It’s distinctive aroma and balanced flavour set it apart from other beers taking unsuspecting first time drinkers by surprise with its moreish appeal.
Taste Notes Stuart Howe Head Brewer: “The aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished balance of spicy resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicate roasted notes. The mouth feel is a perfectly balanced and complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malty notes and a subtle yet assertive bitterness. The bitterness remains into the finish with dry fruity notes which implore the drinker to go back for more.”
